  2. This week I will be visiting Niagara Falls for 2 days. Staying at the Oakes Hotel Overlooking the Falls in an upgraded King with Jacuzzi room above the 8th floor. These rooms overlook the falls with a beautiful view.

The hotel package includes dinner for 2 at the Remington Steakhouse, 2 days of breakfast at Applybee's and tickets to the Greg Frewin Magic Show.

All this for under $300, including taxes.

    More details after I return.

  3. Well, back from 2 frigid days in Niagara Falls. In spite of the extremely cold weather it was a great visit.

The room at the Oakes Overlooking the Falls was on the 20th floor with a gorgeous full wall of windows view of the frozen Falls and environs. Great place to sit by the window and view the wintery scene, including a rainbow and full moon over the Falls, followed by a warm Jacuzzi.
The meal at Remington's Steakhouse was excellent with steaks cooked to perfection. Visit included being driven in a warm Shuttle from the Hotel to the restaurant. Nice to step out after dinner and walk a few steps to the Shuttle. For anyone interested, the Shuttle will drop you at the Casino so you can contribute to the Ontario government coffers by means of the slots or card tables.

Breakfast at Applebee's both mornings was as expected and very convenient. Only a few steps outside from the Hotel.

Friday afternoon was spent at the Bird Kingdom, a 3X Attraction of the Year Award Winner. It is the World's Largest Indoor Aviary. It was wonderful to walk around the Aviary with smaller tropical birds flying all around, not in cages. Much better attraction than I expected.

Friday night was an evening at the Greg Frewin Magic Show. Performance was great, including Lions and Tigers, but the theatre and environment was not up to my expectations. Was expecting a high-class Vegas type theatre and performance - hawking of drinks, popcorn, etc. was not expected. In my opinion the overt commercialism lowered the experience. However, that was only my expectations. The show is definitely worth a try.

All in all, an excellent 2 days for the price. Final bill from the Hotel, including the dinner, breakfasts, magic show, upgraded room, parking, fridge in the room rental and taxes came to $349.95.
